THE ROLE:

Our 18 month industry leading Chef Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification whilst working to the highest standards in hospitality.

The programme develops skills in food preparation, food service, food safety and health and safety and opens opportunities for progression within our many kitchens.

Your on-job training and assessment towards SCQF Professional Cookery level 5 or 6 and will be complimented with additional training and masterclasses.  You will be working alongside some of the industry’s most talented Chefs across multiple kitchens delivering different food and service styles. All this whilst earning as you learn in a fun and friendly environment.

The key things you will be trained to be responsible for:

  • Receiving, and safe storage of deliveries
  • Performing basic cleaning duties according to schedules ensuring regular sanitization of all workstations and hand contact surfaces
  • Discarding all expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers and recording
  • Accurately measuring ingredients
  • Preparing ingredients, which includes meat, poultry, fish and game as well as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits
  • Cooking simple meat fish and vegetable dishes and bread products
  • Preparing basic salads and sauces 
  • Plating and presenting food
  • Supporting the kitchen porter team

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY YOU WILL ALSO NEED:

  • National 5 Qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications preferred
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification and work experience within a professional kitchen is an advantage though not essential
  • To be passionate about food, and have a good palate 
  • Ability to quickly build excellent working relationships 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Basic IT skills with knowledge of Office software and ability to use technology
